Pushed and Pulled

Pushed and Pulled

This morning…I sit in a waiting room. It’s an attractive waiting room, with lovely pictures and smiling faces. It’s an orthodontist office.

The work of orthodontics is fascinating and intricate… but it all boils down to a lot of pushing and pulling of teeth into their ideal alignment. This is not just about improving how a mouth looks, but is a restorative process to restore and maintain ideal function. Do I sound like a commercial for orthodontics, lol?

The Bible tells us that we are, each and every one of us, experiencing a pushing and pulling work of our own. According to Romans 8:29, we are predestined to conformity to the image of Jesus. We’re also promised that the one who has begun this restorative work in us is faithful to complete it (Philippians 1:6).

Like any orthodontist worth her salt, God will not leave us out of alignment, but push us and pull us until that conformity is complete. I take great comfort in that. I am also confident that God is fully capable of doing it. How about you?

Happy Wednesday!
