On Grace and Sin…

On Grace and Sin…

Happy Wednesday! I’m not sure about you, but our celebration of God’s faithfulness on Sunday continues to resound in my soul, today. God is good. We continue our conversation about grace, today.

Prompt:

What does the bible say about grace and sin?

Answer:

Grace is a gift, and sin is a debt.

The Bible says that all people are sinners, and that the consequence for sin is death (Romans 3:23; 6:23). However, God loves us so much that he sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross to pay the debt for our sins. When we put our faith in Jesus Christ, he forgives our sins and gives us eternal life (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9).

Grace is not a license to sin. In fact, the Bible says that those who have been saved by grace should live holy lives (Romans 6:1-2). When we sin, we grieve the Holy Spirit and hinder our relationship with God (Ephesians 4:30). However, because of God’s grace, we can always come to him for forgiveness and cleansing (1 John 1:9).

The Bible teaches that grace is a powerful force that can transform our lives. When we receive God’s grace, we are made new creatures in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). We are forgiven of our sins, and we are given the power to live holy lives. Grace is the greatest gift that God has given us, and it is the foundation of our hope for eternal life.

Just a thought:

What an opener…grace is a gift, and sin is a debt.

The eternal debt of sin has been paid, thanks be to God. Having placed my faith in the finished work of Jesus, there is now no condemnation for me to dread.

Lest we forget, however. Paul answers one question with absolute clarity.

What then are we to say? Should we continue in sin in order that grace may increase? By no means! How can we who died to sin go on living in it? Do you not know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Therefore we were buried with him by baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.
