What do you think?
I have heard that question many times in my life. How about you? Next question, on a scale of 1 to 10, with one being very negative, where does you mind tend to go. Positive or negative? What do you think?
It makes a difference. In fact, it makes more of a difference than we often realize. Studies show, in fact, that a pattern of negative thoughts and feelings will often lead to depression. This was observed many years ago, by Solomon (or another wise person) who wrote:
As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.
Proverbs 23:7
We could talk about the science behind it all, but let’s just keep it simple. It really is a simple truth about the difference that can be made by a simple change of our mind. Today is a great day to begin that change, with the Lord’s help. In fact, let’s put something into practice, together. Let’s commit to beginning each day with gratitude. Try a list of five. Then ten. Then, throughout your day, when negative begins to move in, give thanks for those things again. Before you know it, that inner dialog will begin to change.
Give thanks!
By the way, I’m completing this while awaiting a plane to take me to Oklahoma City. I would appreciate your prayers for the Bibles for China board, as we seek the Lord concerning our work across China and around the world. Thanks!
